Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan believes Danny Rohl could be a huge success at Rangers.
Bannan played under the German manager at Wednesday and was full of praise.
Speaking to RecordSport, he said: “Danny is the best manager I’ve worked with in my career.
“He’s so confident.
“When he came to Sheffield Wednesday, it was his first manager’s job.
“He’d been assistant to Hansi Flick at Bayern [Munich] and Germany.
“When he arrived, I was thinking: ‘He’s the same age as me.’ So I expected him to be quite shy.
“But in his first meeting, he was unbelievable.
“All the boys left the meeting saying he was unreal.”
Rohl managed to keep Wednesday in the Championship after they were 12 points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Bannan added: “Tactically, he’s really good.
“He likes to play but not to the extent of Russell [Martin].
“Danny is more about doing what it takes to win.
“He likes getting the ball forward and pressing high.
“He’s not about 100 passes.
“Basically, he analyses every game and every opponent.
“He’ll see their weaknesses and that’s how you’ll play.”
Rohl left Hillsborough in the summer and has been out of work since.
While Rangers have made no formal approach to the 36-year-old after Steven Gerrard knocked them back, Rohl remains the bookies’ favourite to become the next Ibrox boss.
Bannan concluded: “I think he could be a massive success at Rangers.
“He loves things like this.
“Rangers are right up his street because he loves a challenge.
“He’ll believe he can still get Rangers challenging for the league this season.
“Danny will target winning the title.”
